Frequently asked questions

What do I need to do first when I move to Jersey?

Register as a Jersey resident online at gov.je, which issues your registration card and social security number, then swap your driving licence at your Parish Hall, register the car at DVS and register with a GP and a dentist.

How do I swap a UK driving licence for a Jersey one?

Take your UK licence, passport and proof of address to your Parish Hall. The fee is £70 and the licence lasts ten years. Do this before registering a vehicle, because Driver and Vehicle Standards asks for a Jersey licence.

When do I get a health card in Jersey?

After six months of living in Jersey and paying social security contributions. Apply at the Customer Hub on Union Street. The card brings the £50.28 GP subsidy and free prescriptions.
